Outdoor Dog Portrait Experience

I want you to experience the joy of seeing your dog exactly as they are: playful, adventurous, and full of personality.

That’s why I’ve kept things simple with one outdoor photography session designed to capture natural moments of your dog exploring the beautiful landscapes around Vancouver and the North Shore.

No complicated packages — just a relaxed experience that focuses on what matters most: your dog’s personality and the connection you share.

  • Sessions take place at scenic outdoor locations around Vancouver and the North Shore.

    Examples include beaches, forest trails, and coastal viewpoints such as
    Spanish Banks Beach or
    Ambleside Beach.

  • A tailored outdoor photography session up to 90 minutes on location. Up to 2 dogs and family members

  • 10 high-resolution digital images delivered through a private online gallery.
    Option to purchase additional images ($20 per image)

  • Sessions designed to capture natural moments of your dog exploring and playing

  • Sessions scheduled close to sunrise or sunset for the best light

  • Pre-session planning via email to discuss location and details

Book

First step is to book your session! You can connect with me via my contact form, or by email at info@vschmidtphoto.com

From there we will choose a date and go over any questions or concerns. I will send you a contract to sign and the non-refundable $50 deposit will be due at this time.

Plan

Once the first step is completed, I will be in contact with you and we will start planning!

 

We will go over locations and I will send a short questionnaire to be filled out. This will help me get to know you and your pup prior to the shoot.

Shoot

Photoshoot day! I will meet you at the chosen location and we will ease into the session. I like to allow time for your pup to explore and sniff without any pressure to pose. We are there to have fun!

After our session I will give you an estimated time frame on when you can expect your gallery delivery (roughly 1-2 weeks). You will receive an email with a link to your gallery where you can download your images.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • No! Many dogs are photographed on leash for safety. I can easily edit the leash out of the final images so it looks completely natural. Your dog’s safety and comfort always come first.

  • That’s totally okay. I’m experienced working with dogs of all personalities and energy levels. Sessions are relaxed and we work with your dog’s natural behaviour to capture great moments.

  • Since our sessions take place at scenic outdoor locations, the weather plays a big part. If the forecast calls for heavy rain, high winds, or extreme heat that might be uncomfortable for your dog, we will make a call 24–48 hours before and reschedule for the next available clear day at no extra cost.

  • Absolutely! While the focus is primarily on your dog, I love capturing the unique bond between a pet and their people. We can certainly include a few "family" shots or candid moments of you interacting together during the session.

  • To help your dog feel their best, I recommend bringing:

    High-value treats: Think "extra special" (chicken, cheese, or their absolute favourite) to keep them engaged.

    Favourite toys: Especially ones that squeak or have a familiar scent.

  • I have a list of tried-and-tested locations around Vancouver, but I am always open to new ideas! If you have a private property or a specific park where your dog feels most at home, let me know.

    Note: Locations outside of the Vancouver/North Shore area may incur a small travel fee.
